Considerations for choosing hardware and software

When people are coming to look for shared storage a lot of the time they'll ask what other software or hardware they should be integrating into their workflow to make sure they have a seamless editing experience.

We always ask them the same question and that's “what's your deliverable?”

So, why do we ask that?

Well your deliverable is going to make a lot of your decisions for you. If you're working with high-end 4K or 8K footage for a cinematic experience that's going to be really powerful with clear visuals then yea go buy the expensive RED cameras and the high-end workstations. Those things are going to come together and create that high quality footage that you really need.

If you're doing stuff that's going to be on YouTube or social media or on your website, like we do here at ProMAX. You don't need to buy high-end production equipment to make that happen. All the video content that you see on our site and on our YouTube channel we film on our phones and we just use our basic workstations and a ProMAX Platform that we have here in the office.

So when you're going to buy this stuff think about what you're going to be producing at the end.

If you're going to think about it as a car if you're buying a Ferrari you're going to want to put the best gasoline in it.

If you're buying something small and efficient. It's okay to put unleaded in.

So think of it that way and it will help you make a lot of your hardware and software decisions when you're building out your workflow.
