Email 101: Sending Large Video Files

If you have ever tried emailing someone a video you probably realized it is easier said than done. The major reason you can’t email video is due to the size limits email providers put on messages. This cap is generally around 25MB while the average video can be several GB in size.

You might be asking. How do I email a video that is too large? To get the file within the size limit you’ll need to compress the video. There are a number of compression software available like Veed.io that will reduce the size of your file. Just be careful that your compression doesn’t negatively impact the quality of the video you are trying to share.

Another method to use can be to create a zip file. This will compress your files and hopefully reduce it to a size that can be sent through email. However, if your video is too large the zip file may still not meet the data cap. If your file is still too large, using a service like Dropbox or Google Drive and emailing a link to the video file are viable options.
