If you're purchasing or building your own video editing workstation, there's two things really that will change the game for video editors.
You need a high-end GPU solution and you need high-end storage. You need to be able to feed the computer the media that you're sending it and store potentially terabytes of data in a way that's easy to do.
Then you need the GPU. this is the most effective way to scale video editing performance on most of these machines. These days if you're topping out because you're doing 5K, 6K, 8K kind of stuff, obviously you're going to need higher-end processors, multiple processors. That's when things like that start to make more sense or start to make as much sense as going with a high-end GPU.
